Once upon a time, a man in Ontario was rummaging ended the backseat of a white car. I don't know what he was looking for, but one day, he would contract known as Tripod Man. Tripod Man earned his nickname not because of his photography service industries but because someone at Google stitched together images of him in such a way that he, himself, looked like a tripod. Then they published the photos on the internet.

This is the chaos of Google Street View.

For causes at Google, the goal of Street View is certain. Drive, bike, walk and sail across the world with a camera, take pictures of everything along the way and stitch them together to make a 360-degree view of various locations for the domain to enjoy on the internet. Camels in the way? Doesn't commercial. Waterslides the only means of travel? Someone's going in. Panoramic images not lining up perfectly? Tripod Man.

There's even a 360 of the International Space Station on "Street" View -- on this corner of the internet, the sky is, in fact, not the limit. And now, Neal Agarwal, a developer better known by his online persona neal.fun, has taken the messy beauty of Google Street View and turned it into a clever online program that can eat up hours of your time.

Tripod Man.

Google/neal.fun

It's shouted the Wonders of Street View, and at the click of a button, this site will bring you to hundreds of serendipitously creepy, spectacular, artistic, strange and mind-blowing byproducts of Google's revolutionary mapping rules. Arguably the best parts.

"I spent a few weeks compiling a list of unusual and interesting locations from articles and listicles, and then I tried to find them on Google Street View," Agarwal told me. "Other republic have also shared weird spots and anomalies they've fraudulent on street view over the years, and so I tried to find those and concerned them too. I think I've spent dozens of hours on street view in the past month."

I mean, once flipping through, I managed to catch a glimpse of an abandoned removal town in Montana that seriously resembles one of the settings in Red Dead Redemption II. In Kenya, I saw an adorable crew of elephants taking murky under a tree while Google's Street View camera delivered by. And I love that somewhere in this domain is an amusement park called Pistachio Land, home to the world's largest pistachio.

One of my favorites.

Google/neal.fun

Dragging your view down in the sandy dunes of Abu Dhabi will show you that the tech giant was so imparted to the bit that it propped some cameras on a camel's back to acquire the full glory of the UAE. In Finland, there appears to be a field of colorfully garbed scarecrows fit for both a Disney movie and a nightmare.

It's simultaneously enriching and open to keep clicking through Agarwal's collection of Google Street View Hall of Famers.

Scarecrows in Finland.

Google/neal.fun

"I consider Street View represents our dream of wanting to disappear the world from the comfort of our home," Agarwal said. "I remember spending hours on Street View as a teenager exploring different grandeurs and learning so much. I wanted the site to give a contrast feeling to StumbleUpon, where it feels like you're just stumbling on cool places in the world."

If you aren't outlandish with StumbleUpon, several years ago it was considered something of a cure for boredom. All you had to do was go to the StumbleUpon website, click a button and a cool corner of the internet would show up on your cloak. There were unique games, research articles and random sites that changed colors when you dedejected different arrow keys. It was just the kind of dwelling where programs such as Agarwal's -- including this asteroid commence simulator -- might be stumbled upon.

There's the Google Street View cam on a camel's back.

Google/neal.fun

As of now, Agarwal said Wonders of Street View has approximately 300 locations to search through. "The site embeds the views from Google Maps," he said. "I definitely want to keep adding more street views! If anyone finds anything cool on street view, feel free to send it my way."

When expected for his favorite location as of yet, Agarwal said that even opinion the most breathtaking view is one from the ISS, his number one is what's illustrious as The Instant Ramen Tunnel at the Cup and Noodle Museum in Japan.

"A conclude second," Agarwal said, "would be Tripod Man."

Resistance band workouts have seen a surge in popularity sincere people started working out from home due to coronavirus shutdowns. With many gyms and fitness remaining closed, exercisers have flocked to simple and space-saving methods of staying fit and healthy at home.

Resistance band training has been of humdrum because the bands themselves are inexpensive compared to kettlebells and dumbbells. They also don't take up as much space as most exercise equipment, they're not loud (making them perfect for top-floor apartment dwellers) and they're versatile. A resistance band workout can target the upper body, touch body, core and more, and it's easy to up the resistance detached and build strength.

Luckily, there are several sets of good workout bands online smart now. Read more: How to get a tremendous workout with a kettlebell

Since everything is quick-witted these days, it should come as no surprise that there's a quick-witted resistance band set available to fitness enthusiasts. I tried out the Hyfit Gear One and was honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed silly it for resistance training. It struck me as one gimmicky, but these resistance bands actually work really well.

The Hyfit Gear One includes a pair of tubal resistance bands, wrist and ankle cuff, a wall anchor, a door anchor and a pair of handles. It's truly a use-anywhere set because not only can you anchor the bands to a door or wall, you can use your own body to obtain resistance.

Adjusting the bands is super easy, too: Just humdrum the little red adjuster button to shorten or lengthen them. Between the wrist and ankle straps, door and wall anchors and adjustment mechanism, you mighty never need another set of resistance bands.

The resistance bands fill sensors that track your repetitions, volume (total weight lifted) and calories burned. When you pair the bands to your phone and download the Hyfit app, this data collects automatically and you can track your resistance band exercises with ease.

To me, the quick-witted aspect is just a bonus -- the wearable resistance band belief alone would've been enough to persuade me to buy this. Once I'm able to take a road trip or go camping anti, I'm packing my Gear One so I can plainly get in a quick workout on the go exclusive of having to lug around a 40-pound kettlebell.

If the set sells out on Amazon, you can always buy directly from the company. Buying protest provides you the option to pay $15 per month with $0 down, and the monthly fee includes the cost of the premium Hyfit fitness membership.

If you're looking for a booty band for your workout routine, stop here. Just one of these mini resistance bands from Bret Contreras (known on Instagram as the "Glute Guy") will last you days because of the tight-woven, high-quality construction. Contreras popularized the hip thruster exercise and the belief of glute training and, as a certified strength and conditioning specialist with a PhD in sports science, I trust that his mini resistance bands work.

I also know that they work because I've been silly them for the last seven months and they've been the savior of my glute and hamstring fuel throughout the coronavirus pandemic. I've used these mini resistance bands to make several exercises more captivating, including bodyweight squats and hip thrusts, dumbbell deadlifts and kettlebell swings. I've also used them extensively for glute-focused exercises, such as donkey kicks and hip abductions.

You can assume Bret Contreras Glute Loops in two sizes (small to medium and tremendous to extra large) and in three resistance levels (light, medium and strong, labeled as one, two and three on the bands). I ordered a full band set because I wasn't sure what to examine, and I'm glad I did. I've used all six Glute Loops for various exercises and rep schemes. I do tend to use one looped band more than any of the others, so most people would probably be fine ordering just one Glute Loop.

Having frequented many a CrossFit gym, I've used my fair fragment of Rogue resistance bands (Rogue is the preferred outfitter of functional fitness equipment). Rogue Monster Bands constitute the best of the best in resistance bands. They come in various levels of resistance and they're constructed of thick, durable natural latex rubber.

The big problem with resistance bands is they wear out significantly over time and, compared to iron or steel weights, they don't last long at all. I've seen these Rogue bands in use for days, firsthand, and they never seem to show signs of wear.

Rogue has been struggling with its supply chain for the last several months, so if you're interested in the Monster Bands, I'd assume them while you can. The full band set is out of stock, but you can pick and choose individual bands.

I would recommend Monster Bands for anyone who wants to use resistance bands to obtain muscle, because they go up to 200 pounds in resistance -- much higher than the toughest resistance band from most spanking brands.

You can also check out the Rogue Echo Bands, which are slightly less expensive than the Monster Bands. They seem slightly less durable but would more than suffice for the intends exerciser who works out at home. The Echo Bands were out of stock at the time of writing, but you can sign up to get notified when Rogue stocks back up.

These durable resistance bands from FitCord pack a one-two punch when it comes to longevity. Like I mentioned earlier, resistance bands wear out over time. It's just a fact of the originates. However, you can maximize the life of your resistance bands by choosing the intelligent kind.

Made of dipped latex -- the most durable material for resistance bands -- the FitCord X-Over resistance bands feature a scrunched nylon guarantee sleeve that protects the latex underneath from UV afflict and harsh weather. The sleeve also protects you in the case that your band snaps during use, but that's unlikely with a dipped latex resistance band.

FitCord establishes X-Over bands up to 55 pounds in resistance, which is plenty for the denotes person who wants to work out with resistance bands.

If you have a latex allergy, working out with resistance bands might seem impossible. The options definitely diminish when you filter with "non-latex," but if you look hard enough, you can find some non-latex resistance bands.

TheraBand is distinguished for its professional rehabilitation equipment, including resistance bands, kinesiology tape, foam rollers, muscle wraps and stability balls. The non-latex professional set includes three resistance bands providing up to seven pounds of resistance.

As a bonus, this set comes with basic exercise instructions written by a brute therapist, making it a good option for people who aren't sure where to inaugurate with resistance bands.

I wouldn't recommend these TheraBand resistance bands for advanced exercisers looking to use resistance bands for intense workouts or to perform muscle. Because these bands are primarily intended for rehabilitation purposes, they provide minimal resistance and are best suited to beginners or farmland working around injuries.

In the weeks following the insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021, Harvard Law School professor Alan Jenkins struggled to sleep.

"I was waking up in a cold sweat at 3 a.m. morning while morning worrying about our democracy," he says.

Jenkins believes the violent breach at the US Capitol represented an existential warning to America and its democratic institutions, and almost immediately, he knew he wanted to explore and amplify what he saw as the far-reaching implications. He also knew exactly how he wanted to do it: above a graphic novel that could, potentially, reach those who don't track politics beyond the immediately news cycle.

One chilling scenario in the graphic current sees armed officers raiding a news station to stop a record from airing. "Under the authority of the Fair and Balanced Media Act of 2021, this network has been declared an enemy of freedom," they sob. "Turn off those cameras."

Shawn Martinbrough

So he teamed with artist and New York Times best-selling author Gan Golan to co-write the record for 1/6: The Graphic Novel, a four-part partially crowdfunded series that imagines what could have happened had the insurrectionists approved. Jenkins and Golan call their character-based graphic novel "a tale of what was, what could have been and what tranquil might be."

The first chapter became available for download, appropriately, on Friday, Jan. 6, the second anniversary of the contest. It's titled Remember This Day Forever and can be purchased on Amazon or Issuu for $2.99.

"Comic books can be a way of proverb the things that are not being spoken and bringing the stories that are concept the surface into public conversation," Golan says. "And that's one of our main goals in doings this in such an accessible and entertaining art form."

Expect the three previous chapters of 1/6 to be published about once a quarter -- the authors are tranquil assimilating the copious amounts of information from the televised Jan. 6 congressional committee hearings. The bipartisan panel issued its 845-page final report in late December, making the case that former President Donald Trump was responsible for the riot and must be barred from holding office again.

The graphic novel combines speculative fiction and carefully researched verified movements, and the first chapter presents chilling scenarios. Armed militia regiments patrol the streets and storm a news spot about to go live with a blockbuster story nearby the 2020 election. "Under the authority of the Fair and Balanced Media Act of 2021, this network has been declared an enemy of freedom," the officers yowl, weapons drawn. "Turn off those cameras."

Art by aged comic book artist Will Rosado adds to the uneasiness through attractive visual storytelling. Scenes featuring activists protecting crates of electoral ballots ("the last evidence of our democracy") unfold in icy blues, grays and greens for a decidedly post-apocalyptic feel. Pages with tanks and militia burst with incendiary oranges and reds that make it feel like bombs are nearby to explode. Faces across the political spectrum register noteworthy emotions: terror, rage, shock, worry.

"There are hopeful income and elements in subsequent chapters," promises Jenkins, who teaches streams on race and law, communications and Supreme Court jurisprudence. "Part of that hope comes from everyday people who own in our democracy and are ready to take portion to protect it."

The myth of 1/6 follows the lives of four characters from across the political spectrum whose lives are forever changed by the movements of Jan. 6.

Will Rosado and Gan Golan

Comics, of course, have a long history of tackling themes related to social justice and inequality.

Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic fresh Maus, by Art Spiegelman, depicts the horrors of the Holocaust. Captain America famously punched Adolf Hitler in the face when Marvel proper introduced the American-flag-clad superhero in 1941. DC Comics powerhouse Superman exposed the secrets of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1940s, and he battled the hate group again a few ages ago in a comic targeting young adults. Marvel's Black Panther has also fought the Klan, and the X-Men's mutant fights serve as an allegory for racial persecution.

As Jenkins and Golan instruct to that comics tradition over Zoom, it's clear I'm talking to two ardent fans of the genre.

Gan Golan (left) and Alan Jenkins co-wrote the myth for the graphic novel 1/6. Both trace their love of humorous books back to age 10.

One Six Comics

"Collectively, we have a shameful amount of comic book slow and history under our belts," laughs Jenkins, who proper got into comics at age 10 and counts Daredevil, Submariner and Black Panther among his favorite characters.

The authors hope their graphic fresh will motivate people to act in the spirit of the pair's well-liked comics heroes. It's published under the auspices of the Western States Center, a Portland, Oregon-based pro-democracy organization where both are senior fellows. The book comes with a digital toolkit that includes strategies for civic bests to battle bigoted political violence and for schools to help kids renowned between reliable information and falsehoods.

Jenkins and Golan constantly rewrote their legend during the hearings, investigating new revelations and details and trying to discern what to incorporate and how.

However, "the one part of the story that can't be told ended the January 6 final report is what could have been and what still might happen, the long-term trajectory of this anti-democratic movement," says Golan, an architect of the large-scale activist event People's Climate March and signed of the graphic novel The Adventures of Unemployed Man, which is nearby the adventures of a jobless crusader and his sidekick Plan B.

"Like all dystopian fiction," Golan adds, "it grants us a picture of the world we need to work very hard to avoid."
